Where do you work?

We work at Streamside Camp and Conference Center in Stroudsburg; PA. Streamside is one of many BCM International (Bible Centered Ministries) camps in the USA and around the world. Our camp serves the underprivileged children in the NY metro area and mostly from Philadelphia. Our goal is to reach children for Christ and strengthen churches……

Describe what you do.

My duties include recruitment of counselor staff, maintenance of the facilities, support program activities and counselor training. In between retreats I assist with the maintenance crew in preparing the camp for the next retreat. Program activities include teaching archery, challenge course, tubing, and the like. All staff take turns leading these activities as well as working in the dining hall and food service.

Why did you choose your ministry? What led you to that ministry?

I have served in camp programs in the past and now have come full circle back into Christian Camping. I worked with children at another ministry, and we brought our kids to Streamside for summer and winter camps. How did you get involved? My former ministry closed, and the camp director offered me the position as a leader trainer/ maintenance worker and my roles have grown since then.

When did you make the decision to serve in missions - how old were you?

I was married in my late 20’s with three children when I felt the leading of the Lord to go to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. In my first year my family and I went on a mission trip to the Native American people and afterward I changed my major to American Intercultural Missions. I have been serving in that area since I graduated.

Why did you decide on serving in this way? Why missions?

I grew up in the city of Plainfield, NJ and I had a burden for the underprivileged people in the cities of America - mainly for children and youth. I felt that if you can reach a child for Jesus before they become adults that they will have a much better opportunity to live for Him.

Have you had other occupations?

I was a plumber for about 12 years before going to Bible school.

Hobbies or other interests?

I enjoy hiking and outdoor activities like bike riding and camping.

Your favorite sport? Favorite team?

Yankees and the Giants of course!
