I live and work in College Park, MD, in the Washington DC area near the University of Maryland.

I coach and supervise Navigator missionaries who serve international students in the Northeast US, from Virginia to Massachusetts. We aim to help international students flourish spiritually, develop intimacy with Jesus, and help them to live out their faith in their spheres of relationships contagiously.

As a student at the US Naval Academy, fellow students and missionaries with The Navigators helped me grow as a follower of Jesus. Also, they helped me learn to share about Jesus with others. During those years, I sensed God drawing me toward cross-cultural missionary service. During my service in the Navy, I remained involved with Navigator military ministries at the naval bases at which I was stationed. After my military commitment ended, Navigator leaders invited me to be an intern with The Navigators. I strongly desired to serve with a ministry that focused on personal evangelism and one-to-one discipleship, so this invitation seemed to align with how I sensed God leading me. After completing the internship, The Navigators asked me to move to the Washington DC area and help begin a new ministry among international students. I selected the University of Maryland as the focal point of the new work.

I was 20 years old and a sophomore at the US Naval Academy.

When I was a student at the Naval Academy, the Navigator missionary encouraged me to read missionary biographies. Most captivating and inspiring to me was Through Gates of Splendor by Elisabeth Elliot. God used this book, along with studying the Bible and memorizing Scripture passages, to grip my heart with a sense that He wanted me to serve Him to make disciples among people who did not know Jesus. Most influential of Bible passages was Matthew 28:18-20, in which Jesus commissions His disciples to make disciples among the nations of the world.

My wife Shelly and I enjoy fish keeping, I grow persimmons on our tree in our backyard, and we love sharing the delicious fruit with friends and neighbors.

Baseball is by far and away my favorite sport, in which I participated at Glen Rock High School. I am in the second generation of NY Yankee fans in my family, with my Dad starting that line as a new NY City resident in 1936.
