Where do you work?

Tanzania East Africa among the Datooga people. The Datooga people are one of the tribes with a strong identity in their culture and religion, making it hard to change to another faith. It is shameful and disgraceful to their religion for someone to believe in Jesus. People are excommunicated from their families and sometimes, if married, the wives are taken from them by their relatives.

Describe what you do.

We are involved in the following ministries: 1 - Children’s ministry. Esther teaches at primary schools, teaching English and religion. 2 - Bible Translation. Emmanuel is involved in facilitating an Oral Bible Translation with the Hadzabe people who are click-speaking people. 3 - Church planting. Emmanuel Esther plants churches among the Datooga and other unreached people groups in Tanzania. 4 - Training. Emmanuel is involved in training church leaders and church planters from the indigenous. 5 - Missionary training. Emmanuel recruits national missionaries so that they can go to unreached people groups. 6 - Emmanuel has been appointed by the Africa Inland Church Tanzania to be a country coordinator for Missions. 7- Living among the people and helping them with their needs

Why did you choose your ministry? What led you to that ministry?

We decided to work and live among the Datooga because there are few workers who are willing to do that. The Datooga people are pastoral. They live in remote places where it is difficult even to reach them by road, no water, no hospital, no shops, and sometimes no phone coverage. God has called us to this place, and we are excited and enjoy living there.

When did you make the decision to serve in missions - how old were you?

God called Emmanuel to serve in missions in his last year of high school in 1995. At this time Emmanuel was 21 years old. Esther was 23 years old when she had the calling to missions.

Why did you decide on serving in this way? Why missions?

God gave us a deep desire to go to the interior where other ministers are not going. His calling was confirmed when we were studying at a theological college and the church sent us to go to missions in the year 2000.

Have you had other occupations?

Hobbies or other interests?

Esther likes knitting. Emmanuel likes to fix things, cook, garden, and build.

Your favorite sport? Favorite team?

Emmanuel likes soccer and his teams are Azam sports club and Manchester United
